What I’m Wearing:
The first day of the events we hurried to get ready, eat breakfast at the hotel, and jump into a bus with the other bloggers to catch the first show. I wore an Inayah Collection kimono sleeve dress that I got a lot of compliments on (and I think would be perfect for Eid)! The fashion week was held at an old train station and the shows took place right in front of an abandoned train! It was outside but in a covered area and the weather was quite pleasant. There were cats running around everywhere as per usual in Istanbul!
My favorite thing to see were models strutting down the catwalk wearing long flowing fabrics in a variety of modest evening gowns and abayas. There were some funky turbans and bold pieces that you would expect on a high fashion runway. It was so surreal coming from America, where New York Fashion Week caters nothing to the more modest dressing community, to Istanbul Modest Fashion Week where everything was so beautifully concealed and covered! I was so proud!
I was asked to do a live hijab tutorial on stage, so I whipped out my favorite Voile Chic chiffon hijab and felt like I was replaying my YouTube tutorial lol! There was an interpreter in the back translating what I was saying into Turkish (I was so surprised to know that not many people in Turkey speak English!)
In between shows and events we enjoyed kebabs and turkish coffee at the restaurant connected to the venue. We were having so much fun meeting so many people and taking pictures that we didn’t realize we were starved!
This was such a fun day! Stay tuned for my next post from Istanbul! :)
